Kenton graduate Dale Oates knew Ohio State was the right school for him. Oates also wanted to continue playing tennis, but he wasn’t good enough to join the Buckeyes varsity team.

Two-a-day practices for the Kenton High School football team don’t start until Aug. 1 and the first game of the season of the season isn’t until Aug. 26 when the Wildcats host Coldwater. Even though the opening kickoff is nearly two months away, the Wildcats have been preparing for the season for quite a while through weightlifting and 7-on-7 tournaments.

The Trophy Bassmasters have completed almost half of the 2016 tournament season and Boyd Downey leads the Angler of the Year race. Downey has 214 points, 22 ahead of four-time defending Angler of the Year John Clark, who is in second place.

Ada graduate Alexis Amburgey got a little bit of a trial by fire as a freshman on the Case Western Reserve womens basketball team last season. Amburgey appeared in every game for the Spartans, averaging 17.5 minutes as a back-up point guard.
