ONU rallies for road win

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — Ohio Northern overcame four turnovers and a 17-point third quarter deficit to post a 30-27 victory at No. 11 John Carroll on a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon at Don Shula Stadium. The Polar Bears improve to 3-1 overall and are 2-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Blue Streaks fall to 3-1, 2-1.

Riverdale defeats Columbian, 5-0

TIFFIN — Joe Lauck and Corbin Knedler each scored two goals to lead Riverdale to a 5-0 victory Saturday at Tiffin Columbian. Justin Riegle scored once and added two assists for the Falcons (6-3-3, 3-0-1 North Central Ohio Soccer Association).

Wildcats do job for homecoming by beating Shawnee

It wasn’t picture perfect, but the Kenton High School football team got it’s homecoming job done on Friday night. The Wildcats were able to hold off a late Shawnee drive to preserve a 21-14 Western Buckeye League victory on a cold and rainy homecoming night at Robinson Field.

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley seemed to be able to do whatever it wanted offensively and it kept the ball away from Lima Perry on Friday night in a 45-0 Northwest Central Conference football victory. “I’m very happy with the way our team played,” USV head coach Josh Spencer said.

DOLA — Hardin Northern held a lead over Ridgemont for all but five minutes and 48 seconds of its homecoming game, but it was the visiting Golden Gophers who had the lead when it mattered most – the end. The win lifts the Gophers to 2-4 overall, 1-2 in the Northwest Central Conference. The Polar Bears fall to 3-3, also 1-2 in the NWCC.

Riverdale topped at home by North Baltimore

MOUNT BLANCHARD — North Baltimore came into Riverdale on Friday night looking to spoil the school’s homecoming celebrations, and it did just that. It was a strong defensive showing by the Tigers coupled with too many offensive mistakes by the Falcons that resulted in a 23-6 final score.
