LIMA — Kenton junior Brandon Feltner got a measure of revenge Thursday during the first day of a Division II sectional tennis tournament. A week after being outlasted in three sets by Elida’s Andrew Line in the first round of the Western Buckeye League second singles tournament, Feltner beat Line in two tight sets in the first round of sectionals.

WAYNESFIELD — Waynesfield-Goshen leads both the boys and girls side after Day 1 of the Northwest Central Conference track and field meet on Thursday, but the Ridgemont girls are right behind the Tigers. Waynesfield-Goshen leads the girls side with 28.5 points, 4.5 more than the Gophers.

ADA — The Ada girls track and field team is in second place after Day 1 of the Northwest Conference meet Thursday. Columbus Grove has the lead with 32 points, two ahead of the Bulldogs.

DEFIANCE — Ada’s Zach Beaschler won a pair of matches Thursday at a Division II tennis sectional tournament to qualify for the district tournament.

RIDGEWAY — Sara McFadden kept Upper Scioto Valley off-balance all night and Ridgemont provided her with plenty of offense as the Gophers defeated USV 12-0 in five innings Wednesday in a Division IV playoff softball opener.

One swing of Jenna Rodenberger’s bat brought three runs across for Kenton as part of a six-run fifth inning against Bryan on Wednesday. The Wildcats went on to win the Division II softball playoff opener 6-2.

ELIDA — The Kenton boys track and field team is tied for fourth after Day 1 of the Western Buckeye League meet. All of the Wildcats’ points came from Kaleb Morgan, who won the shot put with a throw of 49 feet, 1 inch Wednesday.

LEWISTOWN — Ben Logan lost a heartbreaker Wednesday in its Division II baseball playoff opener. The Raiders were topped by Indian Lake 3-2 in 10 innings.

ADA — Ada scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to defeat Columbus Grove in Northwest Conference softball Wednesday.

LEIPSIC — Riverdale scored the first five runs Wednesday and held on to defeat Leipsic 6-3 in Blanchard Valley Conference softball.
