McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley swept a nonconference softball doubleheader Saturday, defeating Lima Senior 8-1 and 10-9. In Game 1, the Rams scored three runs in the first, two in the third and three in the sixth.

ADA — The Ada girls track and field track team took second place Saturday at the Ada Invitational. The Bulldogs scored 75 points.

LIMA — Kenton won both of its seventh-place matches at the Western Buckeye League tennis tournament Saturday. At third singles, Mason Bloom defeated Sebastian Kunkleman of Elida 8-6.

MILLER CITY — Miller City jumped on Ada early Saturday and went on to defeat the Bulldogs 10-0 in five innings in a Division IV baseball playoff game. Miller City scored two runs in each the first and second innings and put six runs on the board in the third.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Mo Britton and Quinten Bails pitched Ridgedale to a pair of shutout victories over Riverdale, 4-0 and 5-0, in a baseball doubleheader Saturday. Britton won the first game with 12 strikeouts in seven innings of one-hit ball. He allowed one walk and had a double and two RBIs at the plate.

Even with the cool weather this past week we had a great time at the Memorial Park Golf Club. All leagues – except for the couples league – have now started and things are in full swing.

Van Wert had one bad inning in the field Friday and Kenton took full advantage. The Cougars committed three errors in the fourth inning and – combined with some timely hits – Kenton turned that into three runs as the Wildcats went on to win the Western Buckeye League softball contest 5-3.

LIMA — It was a tough opening day of the Western Buckeye League tennis tournament for Kenton on Friday. The Wildcats won only one of eight matches in which they competed.

DOLA — Hardin Northern got the bats going early and often while pitcher Micheala Curtis shut McComb down in an 11-0 non-conference softball win on Friday. Four runs came across the plate in the opening inning for the Polar Bears.

DOLA — Hardin Northern gave up a nine-run fifth inning to McComb in a 12-2 non-conference baseball loss on Friday. The Polar Bears answered McComb’s two-run first inning with two runs of their own.
