WAYNESFIELD — Hardin Northern took an 8-0 lead Tuesday and held on to defeat Waynesfield-Goshen 8-6 in Northwest Central Conference softball.

URBANA — Benjamin Logan survived a late-game push from Urbana to take a 2-1 win in Central Buckeye Conference softball action on Tuesday.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Bluffton baseball topped Riverdale, 9-7, in 12 innings Tuesday, extending the Falcons’ losing streak to seven games.

ADA — Brayden Sautter gave up just two hits in a 2-1 winning effort from the Ada Bulldogs over Temple Christian in non-conference baseball on Tuesday.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale baseball’s string of close losses was extended with a 5-4 defeat in eight innings against Van Buren on Monday.

Kenton Elks Lodge 157 recently hosted its annual Soccer Shoot-out and there were 27 participants in the event held at the YMCA Corner Kick Soccer Complex.

ADA — Ada scored three runs in the top of the first inning Monday and cruised to a 6-0 Northwest Central Conference victory over Spencerville. The contest was moved to Ada, but was still a home game for Spencerville.

SPENCERVILLE — Ada outhit Spencerville in Northwest Conference baseball action Monday, but fell 6-2 on the road.

Five of seven area softball teams will begin the postseason at home. Kenton earned the No. 5 seed in the Division II Miller City District and will host seventh-seeded Bryan on May 10 at 5 p.m. The winner of that will travel to No. 3 Celina on May 13.

Several area baseball teams begin the postseason Saturday, with three teams opening play at home. Upper Scioto Valley gets things started in the Division IV Coldwater District. The Rams, seeded ninth, host 10th-seeded New Bremen at 11 a.m. Saturday.
