ADA — Arlington opened a seven-point lead after the first quarter and went on to defeat Ada 59-51 on Saturday in boys basketball action. Arlington (2-0) outscored the Bulldogs 34-27 after the first half.

Raiders pull away late for victory

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan seemed in control of Gahanna Christian through three quarters on Saturday in boys basketball action, but the Raiders left no doubt over the final frame. Ben Logan (1-1) outscored Gahanna Christian 26-6 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 68-35 victory.

HN gets first win

DOLA — Hardin Northern outscored Van Buren by seven in the first quarter Saturday and cruised to a 58-39 girls basketball victory. Holly Wilson led the Polar Bears (1-2) with 17 points and eight rebounds.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — An overpowering first quarter proved to be enough for the Riverdale boys’ basketball team as the Falcons claimed a non-conference victory over Carey 62-50 on Friday. The Falcons (1-0) took the lead just 16 seconds into the contest on a Noah Hough free throw and never lost the lead the rest of the way.

BELLEFONTAINE — After trailing for much of the game, Benjamin Logan fought back to take a late lead against Riverside in the fourth quarter of a non-conference boys basketball game Friday night. Holding on to a six-point lead, the Raiders surrendered six straight points in the final minute of regulation, sending the game to an overtime session in which they came up just short, falling to the Pirates, 57-54 in the season-opener.

Rams fall on road

MILLER CITY — Mark Kulhman scored 24 points to lead Miller City to a 69-48 victory over Upper Scioto Valley on Friday night in the boys basketball opener for both teams. Miller City led by three after the first quarter, 13 at halftime and 20 after three quarters.

Arlington pushed the Falcons around and face-guarded the junior guard for four quarters, outscoring Riverdale in each eight-minute frame on its way to a 65-48 road win.

BELLEFONTAINE — Benjamin Logan never held a first half lead, but its defensive effort in the second half allowed the Raiders to pull in front and secure a 39-33 home win over Kenton on Tuesday night in nonconference girls basketball. Kenton (1-1) came out of the gate firing with a 3-pointer from Kori Barrett.

Howland leads Gophers to win

COLUMBUS — Priscilla Howland had her second double-double of the season Tuesday night, leading Ridgemont to a 47-43 girls basketball victory over Tree of Life Christian. Howland scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Gophers (2-1).
