Wildcats do job for homecoming by beating Shawnee

It wasn’t picture perfect, but the Kenton High School football team got it’s homecoming job done on Friday night. The Wildcats were able to hold off a late Shawnee drive to preserve a 21-14 Western Buckeye League victory on a cold and rainy homecoming night at Robinson Field.

DOLA — Hardin Northern held a lead over Ridgemont for all but five minutes and 48 seconds of its homecoming game, but it was the visiting Golden Gophers who had the lead when it mattered most – the end. The win lifts the Gophers to 2-4 overall, 1-2 in the Northwest Central Conference. The Polar Bears fall to 3-3, also 1-2 in the NWCC.

Riverdale topped at home by North Baltimore

MOUNT BLANCHARD — North Baltimore came into Riverdale on Friday night looking to spoil the school’s homecoming celebrations, and it did just that. It was a strong defensive showing by the Tigers coupled with too many offensive mistakes by the Falcons that resulted in a 23-6 final score.

DOLA — Hardin Northern defeated Upper Scioto Valley in four games Thursday in Northwest Central Conference volleyball. The Polar Bears (11-6, 4-1 NWCC) won 25-23, 25-27, 25-19, 25-15.

McKee wins sectional, KHS golf off to districts

OTTAWA — Tough playing conditions Thursday at the Division II sectional golf meet at Country Acres didn’t seem to bother Kenton senior Anthony McKee. McKee was the only player out of 60 to shoot less than 80 as his round off 77 earned him medalist honors and helped Kenton advance to the district meet as a team with a second-place finish.
