MOUNT BLANCHARD — On a tough night for Sydney Holderman, the Riverdale girls basketball team struggled to find and connect on good shots. Arlington pushed the Falcons around and face-guarded the junior guard for four quarters, outscoring Riverdale in each eight-minute frame on its way to a 65-48 road win.

BELLEFONTAINE — Benjamin Logan never held a first half lead, but its defensive effort in the second half allowed the Raiders to pull in front and secure a 39-33 home win over Kenton on Tuesday night in nonconference girls basketball. Kenton (1-1) came out of the gate firing with a 3-pointer from Kori Barrett.

COLUMBUS — Priscilla Howland had her second double-double of the season Tuesday night, leading Ridgemont to a 47-43 girls basketball victory over Tree of Life Christian. Howland scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Gophers (2-1).

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley outscored Bluffton by nine points in the second quarter Tuesday night to open a 12-point halftime lead and cruise to a 64-48 girls basketball victory.

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan defeated Mechanicsburg 2,754-2,667 on Tuesday in boys bowling. Logan Wenger led the way for the Raiders, bowling games of 256 and 197. Tyler Nicholas rolled a 215 and a 202 and Colton Jones had games of 179 and 198. Ben Logan returns to action Dec. 2 against Riverside.

DOLA — Hardin Northern handed out special awards to some of its fall athletes Monday at the fall sports banquet. Receiving special awards from the football team were: Wes Schlatter, most valuable player and most valuable offensive back; Blake Obenour, most valuable offensive lineman, most valuable defensive lineman and Mike Whitaker Award...

The Kenton boys basketball team is hosting a Meet the Team Night on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Kenton High School gymnasium. The night will feature the Third Annual Alumni Game where past players will compete against the 2015-16 team. Admission will be free.

Kenton hadn’t trailed since the opening minute Saturday and held a lead as big as 13 points, but things seemed to be changing when Lima Central Catholic cut the Wildcats’ lead to four midway through the final quarter in the girls basketball opener for both teams. The Wildcats (1-0) responded by closing the game on a 14-2 run to seal the 62-46 victory.

FRANKLIN, Ind. — Ohio Northern rallied from a 16-0 halftime deficit to post a 27-22 victory at Franklin (Ind.) in the first round of the NCAA III Football Playoffs on a wet and snowy Saturday afternoon at Faught Stadium. The Polar Bears improve to 9-2 on the season and advance to the second round Saturday, while the Grizzlies end their season with an 8-3 record.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — An early-season girls basketball matchup between Northern 10 Athletic Conference and Blanchard Valley Conference contenders played out like a prize fight. Riverdale threw its power punches early, while Upper Sandusky held onto its haymakers until the later rounds.
