Rams golf bests Perry to even record

LIMA — Upper Scioto Valley defeated Perry at Lost Creek golf course Wednesday to move to .500 in the Northwest Central Conference. Blake Gratz shot 42 to earn medalist honors for the Rams (3-3 NWCC).

No. 2 doubles clinches win for KHS over Ada

ADA — The second doubles match took center stage Wednesday night in the girls tennis match between Kenton and Ada. With the match tied 2-2, the players from both schools were watching and cheering on their teammates as second doubles was the only match being played.

Kenton aims to even record

The Kenton football team has lost two of its first three games to start the 2015 season, suffering lopsided setbacks to two of the top ranked teams in Ohio – Coldwater, top-ranked in Division V and Wapakoneta, seventh-ranked in Division III. The Wildcats, who suffered a 35-7 loss to the Redskins last week, look to bounce back into the win column when they host St. Marys on Friday at Robinson Field.

Strong 2nd half pushes Falcons to victory

RAWSON — After a scoreless first half, Riverdale scored four second-half goals to defeat Cory-Rawson 4-0 in girls soccer action Wednesday. Gabi Rodriguez scored the opening goal 2:44 after halftime off an assist by Brooke McKamey.

Raiders topped on road

SPRINGFIELD — The Benjamin Logan boys soccer team lost 5-1 at Kenton Ridge Wednesday night. Benjamin Logan’s Julian Cain scored off an Aaron Pennington assist for the lone Raider goal.

Riverdale gets win in sweep

VANLUE — Riverdale downed Vanlue in three sets, 25-12, 25-12, 25-10, Wednesday in a Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball match. Arahea Dodge helped lead the Falcons (5-3, 3-1 BVC) with five kills, a block and an ace.

KHS grad Derek Deardorff embracing chance to coach football at Hawaii

When the University of Hawaii football team came to Columbus for last Saturday’s game against Ohio State, one member of the Rainbow Warrior coaching staff was back on familiar turf. Derek Deardorff, a 2005 Kenton High School graduate who was an integral part of the 2004 Wildcats Division III runner-up team, was on the Rainbow Warriors sidelines as a graduate assistant coach, working with wide receivers and quarterbacks.

Raiders girls soccer topped at home

BELLEFONTAINE — The Ben Logan girls soccer squad fell 1-0 to Kenton Ridge Wednesday night at Ben Logan High School. The Raiders will be back in action on Monday at Bellefontaine.
