UPPER SANDUSKY — Upper Sandusky edged Kenton 3-2 in the Lady Wildcats tennis season opener on Monday afternoon. Winning matches for the Wildcats were Claire Oates at No. 1 singles and the top doubles tandem of Calynn Morris and Kristen Osborn.

USV tops R’mont golf

Upper Scioto Valley defeated Ridgemont 201-208 in high school boys golf play at Memorial Park Golf Course in Kenton on Monday. Devin Mouser shot a 36 for the Gophers to earn medalist honors. His teammate Zach Jenkins added a 54.

Bulldog girls tennis falls to Shawnee

LIMA — The Ada girls tennis team had a rough day on Monday, falling to Shawnee 5-0. Meredith Marshall came closest to picking up a victory for the Bulldogs, falling to the Indians Whitney Baxter 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 at No. 2 singles.

Despite setbacks, college football worth it for Weyer

ADA — It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Aaron Weyer as a football player at Ashland University. But the Ada graduate said all the struggles and setbacks have been worth it. Weyer – who is getting ready to enter his redshirt senior season – missed nearly two full years due to injury and didn’t see a ton of playing time the other two seasons.
