MONTREAT, N.C. — The University of Rio Grande volleyball team rallied from two sets down to defeat Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Asbury and cap a perfect season-opening day at Friday's Volley in the Mountains Tournament hosted by Montreat College.

Upcoming events at Memorial Park Golf Course are the Battle of the Big Horns on Sept. 19 and the 13th annual Masters on Sept. 27.

Starting quarterback Trent Hites threw for four touchdown passes and added another on the ground as Kenton scored 34 first quarter points in its final tune-up of the preseason against Toledo Scott on Friday night.

MARION — Kenton defeated Marion Pleasant 3-2 on Friday to earn its fourth win of the week. "We played some pretty solid tennis tonight,” Kenton coach Keith Kissling said.

ADA — Host Ada swept Bellefontaine 5-0 in a high school girls tennis match on Friday.

Kenton was topped Thursday at home in girls tennis by Western Buckeye League foe Wapakoneta, 4-1. The Wildcats (3-3, 1-1 WBL) had their three-match winning streak snapped.

WAPAKONETA — Kenton beat Wapakoneta by five strokes Thursday at the Wapakoneta Country Club to move to 2-0 in Western Buckeye League golf. The Wildcats shot 171, led by a round of 39 from medalist Britton Hensel.

Devin Mouser shot 35 to lead the Ridgemont golf team to a victory over Arcadia on Thursday at Memorial Park Golf Course. Mouser recorded three birdies and four pars to earn medalist honors by 10 strokes.

The Trophy Bassmasters competed in a very tough club tournament on Delaware Reservoir recently with catch rates extremely low. The seven anglers only managed 16 keeper bass for a total weight of 23.97 pounds.

LIMA — Ada only lost two games Wednesday as it cruised to a 5-0 victory over Lima Senior in girls tennis action. The Bulldogs (8-2) got 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles play from Mackenzie Wills – at No. 1 over Kasidy Moneer, and Meredith Marshall – at No. 2 over Reghan Winkler.
