Soccer tryouts slated in Forest

FOREST — The Riverdale Soccer Club will be hosting tryouts for open positions and the possible formation of new teams for the following age groups: U9, U10, U11, U12, U13 and U14 for both boys and girls. Tryouts will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 20 at the Riverdale Soccer Complex, 350 West Dixon St., Forest.

Big winners

Brian Manns (left) and Ron Manns (center) won the Trophy Bassmasters 37th Annual Indian Lake Spring Open bass tournament. They caught five bass that weighed 14.14 pounds for first place and the $2,500 grand prize.

Little League: May 12, 2015

The second farm Reds beat the Indians 2-0 on Monday night. Leading the Reds were Carson Bash and Alex Beach with a home run and a single each. Tommy Mustain and Hayden Holland had two singles each.

Oates wins WBL title at No. 1 singles

LIMA — Kenton senior Dale Oates did something that no Wildcat had done for more than 40 years on Saturday. Oates won the Western Buckeye League title at first singles, becoming the first Kenton player to do that since 1974.

The Kenton baseball team jumped on top of Elida early on, scoring in each of the first three innings, including four runs in the second on the way to an 8-3 Division II sectional win over Elida on Saturday at Kenton.

Falcon rally falls short in sectional

BLUFFTON — Leaving runners on base almost will always hurt a team. It was no different for Riverdale, but the timing couldn’t have been worse as the Falcons left six runners on base in a 3-2 loss to Bluffton in a Division III sectional semifinal baseball game Saturday.

Hornets rally by Ridgemont

RAWSON — Cory-Rawson took the lead after scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on to defeat Ridgemont 5-4 in a Division IV district baseball game on Saturday.

Raiders defeat Versailles, 5-3

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan scored early and played error-free defense Saturday to beat Versailles 5-3 in nonconference softball. The Raiders scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and plated three in the fourth to take a 5-1 lead.
