MOUNT BLANCHARD — Justin Riegle scored five goals and assisted on the other as the Riverdale boys soccer team picked up its first victory of the season, 6-3, against Miller City on Saturday night. Riegle scored three times in the first half to give the Falcons (1-1-1) a 3-0 lead, but it was not until he scored two more late goals that Riverdale put it away.

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley split a pair of volleyball matches Saturday. The Rams defeated Continental 25-22, 25-21.

PANDORA — Hardin Northern was edged on the road Saturday in nonconference volleyball with Pandora-Gilboa topping the Polar Bears 23-25, 25-15, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13. Shelby Alloway led Hardin Northern with 15 kills and 29 digs.

ADA — Ada scored a late equalizer Saturday to earn a 1-1 home girls soccer draw against Marion Harding. Harding took the lead 15 minutes into the game on a shot from outside the 18-yard box by Marlena Stinson.

LIMA — Ridgemont swept a tri-match Saturday, defeating Waite and the host team, Lima Perry. The Gophers edged Perry in three games, 25-16, 20-25, 25-22 behind a team-high 14 kills from Aislinn McCullough.

BUCYRUS — Riverdale and Bucyrus alternated sets, but the Falcons won first and last in a 25-22, 16-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9 victory against the Redmen on Saturday. Araeha Dodge had 10 kills on 29-of-32 hitting, and Carrol Pauley was 33-of-34 hitting with eight kills.

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan split a pair of home volleyball matches Saturday, topping Triad and losing to North Union. Ben Logan (1-2) picked up its first win of the season by a 25-15, 25-18 score.

Upcoming events at Memorial Park Golf Course are the Battle of the Big Horns on Sept. 19 and the 13th annual Masters on Sept. 27. Fall Leagues start the week of Sept. 14 with Monday night and Sept. 16 for the Wednesday night league.

RIDGEWAY — Three first-quarter rushing touchdowns from Cameron Smith set the pace for the rest of the game in Ridgemont’s 43-12 season-opening win against the Vanlue Wildcats on Friday night. The win was not only the first of the season for the Golden Gophers, but it was the first under new head coach Todd Burris.

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley junior Austin Sloan took a handoff on the first play from scrimmage in the second half and ran for a 48-yard touchdown to pull the Rams to within 15 points of Ada on Friday night in the football opener for both teams.
