Kenton falls on road to Coldwater

COLDWATER — A young Kenton team got a lesson from the Coldwater School of Hard Knocks after the Cavaliers dominated the Wildcats, 42-0, Friday night in the season opener for both squads. Kenton head coach Brent Fackler said Coldwater, the three-time defending state champions, is a team full of weapons on both sides of the ball and he knew his young squad would had a rough time handling the veteran Cavaliers.

Carey starts well, beats Falcons

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Carey football team got off to a quick start against Riverdale on Friday night, scoring its first touchdown of the season on a 35-yard run by quarterback Gavin Woods on the Blue Devils first offensive play from scrimmage. Although there were a few hiccups along the way, the Blue Devils cruised from there to a 48-14 win over the host Falcons on the opening night of high school football action.

Raiders win season at home

BELLEFONTAINE — Trey Wilson threw six touchdown passes, including four to Jarret Matthews, as Ben Logan overwhelmed Fairbanks 50-27 in a season-opening football contest Friday night. Wilson, who had scoring tosses of 65, 16, 54 and 75 yards to Matthews, added touchdown passes to Josh Whitten and Cole Waugh.

Kenton edges Marysville, 3-2

With the team score tied at two, it all came down to first doubles on Wednesday when the Kenton girls tennis team hosted Marysville. The pair of Calynn Morris and Lauren Rush came through for the Wildcats, defeating Emily McDonald and Kiya Miller 7-6(2), 6-4 to seal a 3-2 win.

KHS volleyball topped on road

LEWISTOWN — Kenton was swept on the road by Indian Lake in nonconference volleyball Wednesday night. The Wildcats (0-2) lost to a Central Buckeye Conference opponent for the second straight match.
