DOLA — Waynesfield-Goshen scored five runs in the second, third and fifth innings on the way to a 15-3 five-inning victory over Hardin Northern in a Northwest Central Conference baseball game on Wednesday.

The Kenton Elks will sponsor its annual Soccer Shoot-Out from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at the YMCA practice soccer fields on West Lima street (Ohio 309) on Kenton’s west side.

McGUFFEY — It took a while for any offense to get going Tuesday night in a Northwest Central Conference baseball game between Upper Scioto Valley and Waynesfield-Goshen.

The Kenton girls track team was third and the Wildcat boys were fourth in a home quad meet that included Columbus Grove, Bluffton and Cory-Rawson on Tuesday afternoon. Columbus Grove was first in both meets, while Bluffton ended up second.

CLYDE — Kenton defeated Clyde 4-1 on Tuesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association tournament.

Julia Miller had an RBI single and Ellie Dackin followed with an RBI triple as Bath broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning on the way to a 6-1 win over Kenton in Western Buckeye League softball action on Tuesday afternoon.

DUNKIRK — Hardin Northern pulled away with an eight-run fourth inning on the way to a 13-3 victory over Perry in a Northwest Central Conference softball game on Tuesday.

McGUFFEY — A bad start hurt the Upper Scioto Valley softball team on Tuesday. The Rams allowed six unearned runs in the first inning as they fell to Waynesfield-Goshen 8-4 in Northwest Central Conference action.

Jerry Burrey always had a desire to win in his athletic endeavors, whether it was as a basketball or baseball player for the Mount Victory Green Devils and Bluffton Beavers or as head basketball coach at Ridgemont.

LIMA — A late inning Kenton rally fell short as Bath defeated the Wildcats 5-4 in Western Buckeye League baseball action on Tuesday afternoon. Trailing 5-0 after a four-run Bath fifth inning, the visiting Wildcats plated two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings before Bath was able to escape with the victory.
