USV loses Parker, then game

LIMA — The members of the Upper Scioto Valley boys basketball team learned a cruel lesson on Tuesday night. After losing their big man in the middle, Cameron Parker, two minutes into the game to an apparent knee injury, the Rams put up a valiant effort in their sectional tournament game against New Knoxville.

Polar Bears topped by Minster

LIMA — Minster wasted little time asserting its control on the way to an 84-32 victory over Hardin Northern in the first game at the Bath boys basketball sectional on Tuesday.

USV rallies from big deficit to knock off Minster in sectional

Trailing Minster by 14 points going into the fourth quarter, not many people in the Kenton High School gymnasium would have felt the Upper Scioto Valley girls had much of a chance of coming back for a victory. The 14 Lady Rams and their coach Mike Risner weren’t among those people, however. The Lady Rams applied their full-court pressure with an intensity they hadn’t had all year, forcing six turnovers in a 14-0 run to start the final eight minutes and Shelby Spradlin converted with six seconds left in the game to put them ahead as USV rallied for 57-55 victory in the Division IV sectional final.

Windle wins championship as four Bulldogs advance to districts

LIMA — Austin Windle wrestled one match following six weeks off from surgery before the Division III sectional tournament. The lack of matches didn’t seem to bother him. Windle pinned both of his opponents Saturday to win the sectional title at 170 pounds and lead four Ada wrestlers in advancing to the district tournament.

Kenton has two champs

SANDUSKY — Dylan Castle and C.J. Cook Jr. won sectional titles Saturday to lead Kenton to a seventh-place finish out of 15 teams at a Division II wrestling sectional in Sandusky.

Wildcats topped

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Kenton kept it close for eight minutes against top-seeded Liberty-Benton during a Division III sectional final matchup Saturday night.
