FULL TIME POSITION OPENING
The city is now accepting applications for a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under direction of the Wastewater Treatment Superintendent and Wastewater Collection Supervisor, operates and monitors wastewater treatment plant, lift stations, and related facilities in accordance with regulatory standards; collects samples, observes meters, gauges, and dials, and records readings; performs various tests to analyze wastewater content and records test results; performs maintenance and repairs lift stations; inspects equipment to ensure proper operating condition and performs routine maintenance; performs building and grounds maintenance; operates vehicles and medium and light equipment; performs wastewater collection maintenance and repairs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of secondary education (high school diploma or GED equivalent); six (6) months skilled maintenance experience, or equivalent; demonstrable ability to understand system of mechanical and technical procedures, maintain accurate records, and perform manual labor; possession of all required licenses and certifications and be insurable under the city’s vehicle insurance policy; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain a valid commercial driver’s license, with appropriate endorsements, within 60 days immediately following the date of employment and must obtain an OEPA Water Reclamation Class I Operator’s License within 18 months of date of hire, valid commercial driver’s license with appropriate endorsements, and valid state of Ohio driver’s license; must remain insurable under the city’s vehicle insurance policy.
