BELLEFONTAINE — Benjamin Logan Middle School has been awarded a $3,000 grant from the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation to support a new reading program.

Brenda Price, RN (second from left) received the Facets of Nursing Excellence Award at the recent nurse’s celebration. It is given annually to one nurse at each OhioHealth hospital, chosen from among the thousands of nurses providing excellent care daily throughout the OhioHealth system.

The Fortnightly Literary Club held its annual Spring Luncheon on May 12. The luncheon, held at The Inn at Ohio Northern, was hosted by Jane Kraft, Jerri Lewis and Barb Winzenried.

Visit Your Relatives Day is celebrated on May 18. I’m sure you’re not shocked to learn that this is a day meant for people to go visit their relatives.

The Silver Creek United Methodist Church held its annual Mother and Daughter Banquet on Thursday, May 11 at the church. Sharon Sams welcomed 45 members and guests, and gave the invocation.

The 1994 Riders met on May 8 at 7:30 p.m. with 14 members present. Meeting was called to order by President Harold Sexton with Chaplin Larry Lee giving Invocation and Sgt. At Arms Richard Rorabaugh presenting the colors.

AMVETS Post 1994, 417 W. Espy St., Kenton is holding a fish fry on Friday. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with dinner from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Soroptimists are holding a lunch and style show on May 20 at Kenton's St. John's Evangelical Church from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for children.

The Tuesday Afternoon Shoot the Moon Club met May 16 at the Elks with members enjoying lunch. Winners were Dorothy Hogue, Kay Fiebiger, Dee Park, Mary Lou Healy, Joyce Hunt and Pam Miller.
