As I sit in my office I am drawn to the word "new." We use the word when we say, "It's a new year” or “It's a new day" or a "New week."

LIMA — The Lima Chapter of Aglow International will be holding its monthly meeting on Thursday, Jan. 14 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at WTLW TV 44 Christian TV station, 1844 Baty Road, Lima. The event will feature a call to prayer to begin the new year.

The Riverdale FFA chapter held a Discovery and Greenhand ceremony recently for their first- and second-year members. Their were 10 8th graders who earned their Discovery degree: Kayla Dement, Michael Greeno, Cameron Herringshaw, Caleb Letherwood, Josh Lentz, Caleb McCoy, Justin Messmer, Hunter Shane, Blake Vanderpool and Jazlynn Woodriff.

The Tuesday Afternoon Shoot the Moon Club met Tuesday, Jan. 5 at the Elks with members enjoying lunch. Winners were Joyce Hunt, Dorothy Hogue, Dee Park, Judy Sallee and Saundra Modd.

The Memorial Park Bridge Club met on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at the Pro Shop Annex. The hostess was Mary Hamilton and there were five tables in play.

Six different design options for new high school marching band uniforms were discussed at the monthly meeting of the Kenton Band Boosters on Tuesday, Jan. 4. Director Travis Wissman told of his meeting with a representative of Stanbury to discuss options for new marching band uniforms.

The Executive Committee of the Hardin County Republican Party met on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at the Party Headquarters on East Franklin Street. Chairman Robert Radway called the meeting to order.

The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter will host its monthly lupus support group in Lima on Monday, Jan. 18. It will run from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Crossroads Church of God, 775 S. Thayer Road.
