Body of Alger area man found in home destroyed by fire

Body recovered

ALGER — The body of a man believed to have been entrapped in his burning home west of Alger has been found. According to a press release from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, the body of Hugh Ries, 65, was discovered at approximately 2:15 p.m. Monday in a crawl space beneath rubble of the collapsed kitchen at 0529 CR 80.

Wildcats rebound with win over AE

Hosting a youthful Allen East squad less than 24 hours after Kenton’s most lopsided loss of the season, Wildcat basketball coach Matt McCullough wanted to see his boys basketball team take care of business early on Saturday night. He got his wish as the Wildcats opened up an eight-point lead after eight minutes and stretched it to more than 20 points by halftime in pulling away for an 81-50 victory over the Mustangs.
