With her time as an educator coming to an end this week, Vickie Krock has loved her 13 years at Kenton Middle School. But after first spending 18 years teaching at the elementary level, Krock said the move to KMS first came as a challenge.

Over the past decade or so, the Kenton High School football team has become known for its dominance during summer 7 on 7 passing tournaments, bringing home trophies from different tournaments nationally. This summer, the Wildcats once again get a chance to test their skills against some of the nations’ best high school football programs when they travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the 48-team 2017 Powerade 7 on 7 Invitational to be held July 13-15.

Kenton JROTC member Emma Ramsey places an American flag at the grave of Civil War General James Robinson in Grove Cemetery. An estimated 2,100 flags were placed on the graves of local veterans in preparation for the annual Memorial Day activities.

The Mary Lou Johnson-Hardin County District Library in Kenton will be kicking off its summer reading program on June 5, with six weeks full of activities for children of all ages. Each week of the summer reading program will feature its own theme and related activities.

Now that the district track meet is over and the regional meet is this week, the remaining competitors on the Kenton High School track team have one goal in mind: putting forth their best efforts in Piqua on Thursday and Saturday and seeing where that takes them.

Miranda Gibson has been an integral part of the Kenton High School track and cross country teams the past four years, including being a member of the regional qualifying 4 by 100 meter relay teams the past two springs. The Kenton senior signed a National Letter of Intent last week to take her talents to and continue her education at Wilmington College in the fall.

Sam Norris moved to Kenton from Marion in 2009, and for a time, he felt as though he was an outsider. The move came with the job of serving as director of the Mary Lou Johnson-Hardin County District Library. Just prior to moving, he had worked at the Marion Public Library where he was in charge of local history and genealogy, as well as working the reference desk.

The Ridgemont students in Malana Ledley and Candi Bodey’s first grades made special treats for the dogs at the Hardin County Dog Shelter.
