The seniors at the Hardin County Council on Aging enjoyed having Joy Anderson and her son Brennan (3 years old) join them for lunch on Jan. 11. The seniors were having Orange Day. The staff and seniors wore orange that day.

Hi-Point’s HOSA students advance to state competition

BELLEFONTAINE – Several students from Ohio Hi-Point’s Allied Health and Nursing programs advanced to the HOSA-Future Health Professionals State Leadership Conference after competing at the regional level. Students competed in a variety of event categories including: Medical Law and Ethics, Medical Math, Human Growth and Development, Knowledge Bowl, Biomedical Debate Team, Nursing Assisting, and Pathophysiology and Physical Therapy

Kenton High School is looking to distinguish itself as the benchmark for others to strive for with the opening of its new fieldhouse. The Kenton Athletic Fieldhouse, as its come to be known, boasts a 50-yard artificial turf surface for football and indoor soccer, a 70-foot by 12-foot batting cage, a state-of-the-art golf simulator, a dedicated wrestling room, two rotational in-season coaching offices, an athletic training room and a concession stand.

Farmers: Rewarding conservation efforts part of solution

Before agricultural leaders and legislators determine what should be done to address the algae bloom on Lake Erie, there should be more facts to work on, said some of the local farmers who got together Tuesday to discuss the issue. The discussion was part of the program for a planning meeting sponsored by the Hardin Soil and Water Conservation District.

HN girls pull away for victory in second half

DOLA — Hardin Northern broke open a close game in the third quarter to pull away for a 39-16 victory over Calvary Christian in a non-league girls basketball game on Tuesday night. The Polar Bears led 13-9 at halftime before outscoring the Spartans 14-0 in the third quarter and 12-7 in the final eight minutes on the way to their seventh win of the season.

Diabetes group to meet at Kroger

Hosting support group

Hardin Memorial Hospital will conduct a Diabetes Support Group meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. at Kroger in Kenton. This month's topic is "All About the Grocery Store" and DeAnna Carey, dietitian and diabetes educator of Hardin Memorial Hospital will be teaching attendees about healthy choices and how to read food labels.
