McGUFFEY — Holding a 16-point lead over Upper Scioto Valley early in the third quarter, the Ridgemont Lady Gophers surrendered a 10-0 run to see the gap close to six with just under three minutes to go in the stanza. Following a timeout, Ridgemont refocused and got nearly all its points back by closing out the third quarter with a 9-0 run before going on to finish off the Lady Rams, 66-51, in Northwest Central Conference play on Thursday night.

LCC pulls away from Lady Bulldogs in fourth quarter

ADA — Ada and Lima Central Catholic were tied two minutes into the fourth quarter during their girls basketball matchup on Thursday night. A Lady Thunderbirds 35-14 advantage on the boards proved to be too much for Ada to overcome as LCC broke open the tight game with a 13-3 run over the next five minutes on the way to a 51-39 victory over the host Bulldogs.

KHS boys, girls play at Defiance in varsity doubleheader to open Bulldogs new gym

After a quiet holiday schedule the past couple weekends, area basketball teams hit the hardwood in full force again this weekend. Included among teams back in action are the Kenton boys, who will play their first game in two weeks when they travel to Defiance to play in the first game at the Bulldogs new gymnasium in a boys/girls varsity doubleheader.
