Certification program to help R’mont students with job, college plans

MOUNT VICTORY — A new program at Ridgemont High School is arming students with certificates which are expected to help them snare jobs or gain entrance to colleges. The online program, called iCEF. Stephanie Jolliff, the agricultural education teacher and FFA advisor at Ridgemont, said the classes started last January and by the summer the students had their certification.

Roberts leads board at community school

Doug Roberts was elected board president of the Hardin County Community School during the board’s reorganizational meeting on Jan. 26. Eric Hoffman will serve as vice president. The board set its monthly meetings for the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:30 a.m. in the school’s board room at 400 Decatur St., Kenton.

Hardin Co. Democrats plan meeting

The Hardin County Democratic Central and Executive Committees will be meet Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. at Henry’s Restaurant, 995 N. Detroit St., Kenton. Committee members and guests should enter the north doors and go to the loft area on the right.

Poor shooting costs KHS girls

Kenton had trouble shooting Tuesday night and it cost them. The Wildcats shot less than 30 percent from the field for the game in a 74-67 nonconference girls basketball loss to River Valley.

Falcons hang close, lose to Mohawk at home 53-52

Flipping it up

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Mohawk-Riverdale boys basketball game was back and forth for most of four quarters Tuesday night with the Falcons clinging to a two-point lead with under a minute left. However, it was the Warriors who made three key plays when the game was on the line to edge the host Falcons 53-52 in a non-league contest.
