The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s help in locating Hardin County resident Toni L. Schorr, 57, of rural Kenton. She was last seen Wednesday evening at her home at Co. Reward grows to find dog abuser

Hardin County Dog Warden Tammy Ervin announced today a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who abused a small dog and then stuffed it into a mailbox has grown to $1,000. Most of the donations came in small amounts as a result of the story in Wednesday’s Kenton Times and postings on Facebook, said Ervin.

Bomb scare clears Ada Schools

ADA — As students from Ada Schools were leaving at the end of classes Wednesday afternoon, the school received what Ada Police Chief Michael Harnishfeger is calling a “suspicious phone call.” School officials notified the police department immediately of the bomb scare and all the buildings on the campus were evacuated as Ada PD officers and deputies from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the school.

Rhodes State to offer basic police academy

LIMA — Rhodes State College is offering a basic police academy this summer. After successful completion of the police academy, students are qualified to take the required Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) certification test to be a peace officer in Ohio.

State grants offered for public safety projects

COLUMBUS—State Representative Robert Sprague, R-Findlay, has announced information regarding the application process for the Local Government Safety Capital Grant. Initiated by the Ohio House of Representatives and included in the state operating budget for fiscal years 2016 and 2017, these grants can help to fund public safety projects in local communities throughout Ohio, including those in the 83rd Ohio House District.
