A Dudley Township business which opened last month is a family endeavor. When Daniel Hostetler moved from the property and took his business with him to Michigan, father and son Levi and Marvin Yoder purchased the farm, the building where he operated Hostetler Metal Sales and much of the equipment left behind.

The Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 for Oakridge Realty and Auction Co. at its new Kenton location, 825 E. Columbus Street. Oakridge will have an open house celebration from 2 to 6 p.m. featuring appetizers, cookies and hot apple cider.

Shoe Sensation, a regional chain of name brand family shoe stores, is sponsoring Socks For Troops company wide. Each store will be collecting socks for active duty military or local veterans in or around the community.

SATURDAY, NOV. 4 Hardin County Agricultural Society (fair board) – 7:30 p.m., fair office, fairgrounds

Assets of the Hardin County Community Foundation are nearing the $6.5 million mark, it was reported at the organization’s quarterly meeting Tuesday in Kenton. Through Sept. 30, assets total $6,494,406. Investment income is up $477,000 for the first nine months of 2017.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 1 Grove Cemetery Board – 4:30 p.m., conference room at cemetery office

The Hardin County Board of Elections will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 7 (Election Day) at 6 a.m. There will be no meeting on Thursday, Nov. 9.

MOUNT VICTORY — Dollar General’s newest store at 435 S. Main Street in Mount Victory is now open. It will offer area residents a convenient new place to shop for everyday essentials.
