BELLEFONTAINE — Springfield Northwestern plated three runs in the top of the eighth inning to pull out an 8-5 Central Buckeye Conference baseball victory over Ben Logan on Monday afternoon.

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan senior Stevie Plikerd has been a leader on the track for the Lady Raiders the last three years, earning Central Buckeye Conference athlete of the year honors as a junior and qualifying for the Division II state meet in the long jump as a sophomore.

Few of her classmates in school would have picked Brooke Sousa to become a competitor in a strong woman contest. “I was a fat kid growing up,” she recalled. But as a young mother, Sousa set her sights on a goal and today is ranked as the third strongest woman in the U.S.A. and is fifth in the world.

BELLEFONTAINE — The host Ben Logan boys scored 114.5 points to win the 12-team Ben Logan Invitational, while Kenton was fifth with 61 points on Friday night. The Raiders lone first place effort come in the 800 relay as they won the event in a time of 1:36.06.

McGUFFEY — Riverdale ran away with the girls title and Ada was second in the boys and girls standings at the 11-team Upper Scioto Valley RAM Invitational on Thursday night. The Lady Falcons won five events and were second in six more events on the way to tallying 143.5 points.
