Last year, there were 10 people who died of opioids overdoses in Hardin County, according to Sheriff Keith Everhart. This year there have been a total of 29 overdoses reported and seven deaths through the first six months of 2017. The Kenton-Hardin Health Department is partnering with the Hardin County Prosecutor’s Office, the sheriff’s office, Hardin Memorial Hospital and the Hardin County Coroner’s Office in a program to reduce the growing numbers.

As a man who enjoys his history, Richard Lawson believes he’s leaving his mark on Hardin County as the courthouse’s maintenance supervisor. Lawson is in his sixth year at the helm, but he has served the department for 12 years, previously working in an assistant position.
