Every dog is said to have its day and Monday night it was Aris’ turn. The 4 1/2-year-old K-9 with the Kenton Police Department received a police badge and bulletproof vest during a ceremony at the Kenton City Council meeting.

A large crowd filled the hallways of the Hardin County Courthouse on Saturday for the 30th annual Christmas Around the Square celebration.

Paul Logsdon of Ada was the recipient of a beautification award for August from the Keep Hardin County Beautiful Commission.

ADA — Col. David D. Kretz returned home Friday to be the keynote speaker for Veterans Day at the Ohio Northern University. A native of Ada, Kretz said he grew up in the community and his children attended classes at Ohio Northern.

In observance of Veterans Day, fifth-grade students at Kenton Elementary School heard from three United States Army veterans. Gary Kennedy (pictured at left) and Dick Wilcox, both veterans of Vietnam, spoke of their time in the service, sharing pictures with students and answering questions.

Members of the second-and third-grade class at Ridgemont Elementary lead the crowd in the National Anthem during the school’s Veterans Day assembly Friday afternoon. The junior class led the student body and several guests in a tribute to veterans from the community.

A group of students are Kenton Elementary School are learning lessons in technology while also learning the importance of caring for others around the world and in their own community.

Twelve area high school students were recognized as Teenagers of the Month for November by the Kenton Elks Lodge during a luncheon at lodge Thursday in Kenton.

The 30th annual Christmas Around the Square Craft Fair will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hardin County Courthouse in downtown Kenton. Sponsored by the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance, the event will feature three floors filled with arts, crafts, and home party dealers.
