DUNKIRK — An emergency meeting of the Dunkirk council has been scheduled for Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the village offices. The purpose of the meeting, according to clerk Phyllis Spencer, is to establish a tax-free fund for the assistance of the Jerry Smith family, whose home was destroyed Friday in a truck accident.

Sharon Haymond, vice president of operations/-cashier at Community First Bank, N.A., will retire next week after a career than spanned more than 45 years. Sharon has been with the bank since late 1973, when, on a visit to the bank, her mom was asked whether her daughter wanted a job. “She, of course, replied yes,” laughed Sharon, and so began her banking career that featured many jobs.
