MOUNT VICTORY — There will be a Victory Gospel concert from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at the Mount Victory Community Center (at the park), 234 N. Washington St., Mount Victory. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. The program will have the 441 Gospel Quartet, the Believe Trio and Chris Horne. Former Mount Victory resident and librarian Cindy Zachman is one of the Believe Trio singers.

On the corner of the street just inside the corporation limits, there was a very small, general grocery store attached to a modest house. The sign out front read, “Mom’s Last Resort.” It was the last store before leaving the village. And it probably the last place you would think to go if you needed something.

The Auglaize Free United Baptist Church will be hosting musician Kevin S. Wilson for a performance at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 11. The church is located at 11890 Ohio 309, Maysville, 15 miles west of Kenton.

ADA — Musical group, The Voices of Ohio, is coming back to Ada for an evening of music on Saturday, May 18 at 7 p.m. Ada resident, Melanie Caw Woods, is a member of this choral group and a member of Ada First United Methodist Church.

MAYSVILLE — A Gospel Praise Gathering is planned today and Sunday at Auglaize Free United Baptist Church, 11890 Harding Highway, Harrod (Ohio 309 at Maysville). Programs are set for 5 p.m. both days with 16 gospel group singers to perform.

It is the week after Easter which is a good time to think about its implications. Easter means salvation and hope.

CAREY — The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey will be celebrating a special mass in honor of Saint Peregrine, patron saint of those affected by cancer, at 7 p.m. Friday, May 3 in the Basilica. Saint Peregrine lived in Italy from 1260-1345; he was a member of the Friar Servants of Mary (Servite Order) and was himself cured of cancer.
