On Sunday, March 25, the second meeting of the Ada Barnyard Farmers 4-H Club opened with a ball-tossing name game. After the exciting game, we elected officers for 2018.

A Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) class has been planned in Hardin County. GAPs classes are training sessions for fruit and vegetable producers taught by personnel from Ohio State University’s Fruit and Vegetable Safety Program.

The first ever annual Hardin County Goat Banquet will be held on Saturday, April 7 at the Family Center of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, located at 15436 Ohio 309, Kenton. Registration and seating will open at 5 p.m. Supper and the speaker will begin at 5:30.

COLUMBUS – Farmers in the Western Lake Erie Basin will soon have significant new resources to further their efforts to protect water quality. Ohio farm organizations and their partners, taking a proactive step, will work with farmers to expand the number of individuals who have nutrient management plans.

REYNOLDSBURG — The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) is accepting nominations to honor Ohio farm families who are leaders in conservation for the 2018 Conservation Farm Family Awards. Five area finalists will be selected from across the state and will be recognized at the annual Farm Science Review in September.

Town and Country Creators 4-H Club met on Sunday, March 11 at the OSU Extension Office Spark Lab. Current and new members chose projects and completed online enrollment.

Poultry, dairy, swine, beef cattle and other livestock producers wanting to learn economically and environmentally beneficial ways to handle the death of their animals can earn livestock mortality composting certification through a course offered by experts and hosted by OSU Extension and the local Soil and Water Conservation District.

The Hardin County Cattle Producers will hold their annual Beef Banquet on Saturday, March 24 at 6 p.m. in the Community Building at the Hardin County Fairgrounds. Presale adult tickets are $15 ($20 at the door), youth ages 6-12 are $7.50 ($10 at the door), kids under 6 years old are free, as well as 2017 Hardin County Junior Fair Beef Barn exhibitors with a reservation given to any Cattle Producers director.

The Boots and Buckles 4-H group met on Monday, March 12 at adviser Jolene Buchenroth's house at 6:30 p.m. Members recited the pledges, then the meeting was officially started. New business is the Boots and Buckles 4-H club is having a bake sale at TSC on Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The proceeds will go the club. Then, the meeting was adjourned.

Goshen Youth met on Saturday, March 3 at the OSU Extension Office Spark Lab. Current members chose projects, and completed online enrollment.
