FOREST – Three staff promotions at Community First Bank, N.A. have been announced by President and CEO, Jalene R. Kin, effective Oct. 1. Nichole Burton was promoted to Vice President of Operations/Cashier/BSA Officer. She has been with Community First Bank, N.A. for 171/2 years.

Tractor Supply Company will be launching its Fall Paper Clover campaign next week at stores nationwide. The biannual fundraiser, in partnership with National 4-H Council, provides thousands of dollars each year to offer opportunities for youth to attend conferences, 4-H camps and other developmental programs across the nation.

RENO, Nev. — Kenton native Dr. W. Alan Wentz was recognized with the Aldo Leopold Memorial Award for distinguished service to wildlife conservation in Reno, Nev., on Oct. 1. The award was announced at the joint meeting of The Wildlife Society and the American Fisheries Society. The award is the highest award given for service in the field of wildlife conservation. First given in 1950, it goes to no more than one person each year.

A report was received of a theft of a bicycle. A loose dog was reported in the 400 block of Glendale Street.

FINDLAY — The National Endowment for the Arts is awarding Marathon Center for the Performing Arts and Findlay Light Opera Company a grant of $10,000 to support a community production of The Music Man. It is scheduled to be staged next year on Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, June 21 at 3 p.m.

For Ed McCormick and his family, aviation is a core part of their lives. Since becoming the manager of the Hardin County Airport in 1999, Ed has spent the last 20 years within sight of the runway. He and his wife, Nancy live on the property and Ed is on call at all times of the day to assist travelers as they stop for fuel or land in Kenton on a business call.

A sawmill south of Kenton was destroyed by a fire early Wednesday morning. Kenton Fire Department firefighters were dispatched to the blaze at 5:45 a.m. The sawmill, located at 17335 TR 265 and owned by Albert Miller, was fully involved upon firefighters’ arrival.
