The Hardin County Engineers Office announced it has reopened County Road 15 between County Road 20 and Liberty Township Road 30 after it was closed for a bridge replacement.

Officers were dispatched to 707 Robinson Ave. for an unwanted guest with a possible warrant. An individual reported that after leaving two loads of laundry in the dryers at Crazy Bubbles laundry, 220 S. Main St., upon returning a short time later, the laundry was gone.

I appreciate the (June 24) letter to the editor from Mr. Fleece about “following the wishes of the residents” which also should be applied to the Downtown Kenton Revitalization Plan. Why is it in the best interest of the Citizens of the City of Kenton to spend 20 million+ to help businesses around the square while the rest of us citizens can go pound sand?

DUNKIRK — For 45 years, Pam Messmer has been a part of the family atmosphere at Sheldon Gas in Dunkirk. On Friday, July 26, she’ll bid farewell to that family, retiring as the secretary/treasurer of the company after a 4 1/2-decade career that she started out of high school.

DOLA — The Hardin Northern Board of Education will meet in special session on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the school to discuss contracting with an interim treasurer.

The Hardin County Board of Elections will not meet on Thursday, July 11. There will be no meeting in July.

Nikia Tyrone Baker, Sidney, was arrested on a warrant through the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. Lester Blake Cornish, 49 Grape St., was arrested on an active warrant through the Hardin County Municipal Court. He also had active warrants through the Hardin and Huron county sheriff’s offices. An officer was dispatched to 328 N. Detroit St. for a report of a theft of a firearm.

Penny A. Fiebiger, 6859 Ohio 67, Kenton – speeding 41 mph in a 25 mph zone, fined $25. Justin T. Feight, Marion – speeding 48 mph in a 35 mph zone, fined $25. Brooklyn M. Thiel, 348 N. Market St., Kenton – speeding 49 mph in a 35 mph zone, fined $25.

FOREST — The grand marshal of this year's Tree Town Festival in Forest is a familiar face to most of the town's residents. Not only has Sharon Haymond worked at the Community First Bank in Forest for the past 45 years, she has served as the Tree Town Festival's treasurer for 25 years. Haymond retired from her festival duties four years ago and will be retiring from her job at the bank later this year.
