A report was received of a theft from 370 Hayes Ave. A possible menacing incident was reported at Life Works.

For many years, Hardin County has reported local drug activity to the El Paso (Texas) Intelligence Center (EPIC). But it wasn’t until Sheriff Keith Everhart recently visited the center on the U.S.-Mexico border that he realized how much assistance the federal program can provide to his office.

RIDGEWAY — With the cold weather, the volunteer work by Ridgeway officials has moved inside. Mayor Kevin Howland reported that he and Councilman Dennis Kelly have nearly completed work on the ambulance bay which is to be the new home of the Southeast Hardin Ambulance District unit.

A Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration is planned Monday, Jan. 15 in Kenton. Rev. Vanessa Cummings, pastor of Payne Chapel AME Church, its members, and community activists and clergy from the Kenton area are putting the final touches on this event.

The Kenton Police Department responded to 5,842 calls and made 430 arrests during 2017, according to its annual report presented to City Council. The month with the most calls was July at 627, while March had the fewest calls at 384.

Brandon Lee Thomas, 344 N. High St., was the front seat passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation in the 200 block of W. Columbus Street. During the stop, another officer was called to the scene to handle his police canine in conducting a sniff of the stopped vehicle.
