Police and Sheriff Reports: July 5, 2016

A report was received of a theft at Walmart. It was learned that the suspect, Jessica Ann Nelson, 221 1/2 N. Detroit St., had rung up a customer for merchandise. The customer handed Nelson $80 in cash, and she then separated the cash and placed $40 in the cash drawer while placing the other $40 in the cabinet.

Celebrating the Fourth

Recent rains a blessing for crops, farmers say

Reaching for the sky featured

After a mostly dry month of June, parts of Hardin County received nearly five inches of precipitation in two separate rainfall events last week. And while they would have preferred the rainfall to be spread out over a longer amount of time, the needed precipitation was good for the corn and soybean crops, several area farmers noted at the Hardin County Ag Council on Friday morning.
