The Kenton Board of Education approved a three-year contract with the district’s teachers during a special meeting Wednesday night. The agreement with the Kenton Education Association will run from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2019.

Kenton City Schools will have a nurse and social worker at all of its buildings thanks to a grant received by Health Partners of Western Ohio. Superintendent Jennifer Penczarski reported at Wednesday’s special school board meeting that the health agency learned it was approved for the program earlier this month.

DOLA — Hardin Northern, as part of a consortium led by the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center, was awarded funding through the Ohio Department of Education’s Straight A grant. Hardin Northern Superintendent Jeff Price reported the news of the grant to the school board at its regular meeting on Wednesday.

COLUMBUS – The railroad crossing at Ohio 273 near Ridgeway will be getting mast-mounted flashing lights and roadway gates. The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) on Wednesday approved construction authorization from the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) directing the installation of the improvements.
