Four new members of the Hardin County Agricultural Hall of Fame were honored for their dedication to the promotion of farming before being inducted Tuesday evening. It is the 13th time the county’s agricultural community has paid tribute to outstanding contributions to the county’s biggest business.

ADA — In the spirit of the Thanksgiving season, Ada Police Chief Michael Harnishfeger said he’s thankful for Officer Henry, the department’s newest addition. Henry is a K-9 unit recently brought in to assist the officers in searching for drugs.

One of the Kenton homes to be featured on this year’s Candy Cane Tour belongs to Dave and Marilyn Deever. This home was built in 1938 by Dr. Calvin Jackson.

A report was received that an employee of the AMVETS Post 1994 failed to lock up after closing. When the problem was discovered, the surveillance video was watched and it was learned that an employee and her husband stayed in the business until 5:30 a.m.

The Alger Council’s Finance Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday in council chambers.

ADA — There’s a new solution to the drainage problem in the Ada Schools’ orchestra pit, but the completion deadline of Christmas will remain Christmas. Mike Lenhart, head of maintenance and transportation for Ada Schools, reported that the project architect for the drainage problem in the orchestra pit of the auditorium advised against the previous plan of drilling into the newly sealed floor.

Home Savings and Loan kicked off its annual Christmas drive this week. Ann Brown (left) and Shannon Larrabee stand at the barrels into which patrons and guests are invited to drop off food items and toys. The barrels, located in the lobby of the Kenton business, and donations, including monetary contributions, will be accepted through Dec. 10.

ADA — The Ada Board of Education received an update of the school’s success in the 2014-2015 state assessment results. Principal Robin VanBuskirk reported that the school met 19 out of 22 indicators on its state results.
