BELLEFONTAINE — The first day of school for Benjamin Logan students in grades 1-12 will be Thursday, Aug. 20. Kindergarten orientation will be on Aug. 20 at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Recycling will be offered Tuesday, Aug. 11 for Blanchard Township/Dunkirk and Mount Victory/Hale Township residents. Blanchard Township/Dunkirk recycling will be at 152 N. Main St. in Dunkirk in the parking lot of the former Price Funeral Home.

Officers were dispatched to Walmart for a report of a theft. The female suspect had reportedly ran across the parking lot to the south and then discarded the bag of stolen merchandise in a field.

FOREST — In 1973, the depot which had been the hub of the Forest community, had fallen on hard times. The Pennsylvania and New York Central railroads had closed the door in the decade earlier and the huge brick building was considered a nuisance.

ADA — Jim Meyer, administrator for the village of Ada, outlined to council five possible sewer line projects that will be studied by Choice One Engineering. At a utilities committee meeting following the regular council meeting Tuesday evening, Meyer discussed each project, beginning with flooding on North Simon Street.

GAHANNA — AEP Ohio awarded a Rate Stabilization Program, Retention and Expansion Grant to International Paper that helped secure a 250,000 square foot expansion of the Kenton plant, doubling its manufacturing space. The facility is part of International Paper's Foodservice business, which manufactures fiber-based hot and cold cups, food buckets and containers, plates and lids for the foodservice industry.

Joshua Matino, 437 N. Wayne St., reported that his juvenile son was being threatened by an older juvenile. He also reported that the threatening juvenile had emptied his trash bags into his yard.

Mark Tice of Tice Construction levels out the wet concrete in the barn of the Hardin County Farm Museum. A group of volunteers, headed up by Sheena Striker, raised $15,700 to have the floor finished with Tice Construction also making a donation to the project.
