DOLA — Five candidates are vying for three openings on the Hardin Northern Board of Education in Tuesday’s general election. Incumbents Michelle Obenour, Chris Rodabaugh and Kathy Schroeder are seeking re-election.

The Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance has announce that its Economic Development Division has been awarded a $10,000 grant from AEP Ohio, a unit of American Electric Power. The Alliance economic development staff, Jon Cross and John Hohn, recently returned from the Ohio Economic Development Association Annual Meeting in Columbus, where they were recognized and presented with the grant.

MOUNT VICTORY — Ridgemont students have been practicing, studying and preparing for months for the FFA National Convention in Louisville, Ky. The chapter is hoping to bring home not only its third national title, but this year also will be cheering for the success of two brothers who transferred to the Ridgemont district in order to increase their chances of earning personal national FFA honors.

It took six votes on three pieces of legislation Monday night for Kenton City Council to commit to a new fire truck for the Kenton Fire Department. Kenton, along with Buck and Pleasant Townships, will share the cost of the 2015 fire truck demonstrator unit.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Looking five years out, Riverdale Local Schools’ finances are on track to remain in the black. Treasurer Jodie Ribley presented her five-year forecast to the board of education at Monday’s monthly meeting.

The Hardin County Board of Elections has announced the last days of in-person absentee/early voting hours for the 2015 general election.

Four candidates will vie for three at-large Kenton City Council openings in the Nov. 3 election. The at-large candidates are elected city-wide.

ADA — Deb Curlis has seen both sides of hospice, working for Community Health Professionals in Ada and also seeing her mother go through the program before passing away. It’s because of those experiences that she gives her all at what she does.
