FOREST — Forest Village Administrator Wes Davis announced Thursday the village will conduct two public meetings in October to discuss the options available on the future of its swimming pool.

The City of Kenton’s boil water alert has been lifted as of 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to a release from the Kenton Water Works office. The alert had been in effect since Monday afternoon following a water main break at the intersection of Cleveland and West Franklin streets.

DOLA — A rural Dola family lost everything but the clothes on their backs Sunday when a fire destroyed their home. According to Northern Hardin County Fire Department Assistant Chief Greg Hinebaugh, the alarm came into the department about 9:30 a.m. when a passerby saw smoke coming from the home of Dave and Sherry Wilmoth, 4733 TR 85.

Gina Messner always makes sure members of the jury during trials at the Hardin County Common Pleas Court are in for a sweet treat. Messner has been serving as the court administrator since 2005, and has been involved in the justice system for 24 years.

Workers from H2O Water Towers of Michigan put the final touches on the renovation of the Forest water tower Friday morning as they place the 6-foot high stencils on the side of the 300-gallon tower.

More than 200 exterior lights were installed at the Hardin County Fairgrounds this summer through a grant from AEP. The new lights use less power than the old system.

The Kenton Times will not publish a newspaper on Monday, Labor Day, so our employees can enjoy the holiday with their families. Publication of the Times will resume on Tuesday, opening day of the Hardin County Fair.

FOREST — The Village of Forest offices will be closed on Monday, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Trash routes will run one day behind next week.

At many schools, the school day begins with students entering their classroom to get ready to learn. At Kenton Elementary School, they now get ready for breakfast. The school offers breakfast free to all students in grades preK-6 in a new program developed by Laura Widder, cafeteria supervisor.
