MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale Board of Education heard the five-year forecast presented by district treasurer Jodie Ribley at its regular meeting on Monday evening.

About 40 volunteers didn’t let a little rain get in the way of sprucing up Kenton’s downtown in advance of Memorial Day.

FOREST — Becky Taylor considers herself a people person, so working with the residents of Forest each day comes naturally and with a level of enjoyment. Taylor serves as the income tax administrator for the village, a position she’s held since July of 2006.

MOUNT VICTORY — The Mount Victory Community Improvement Award for 2015 was presented to Lora Rojas who has lived in the village on North Main Street for three years.

The Hardin County Courthouse is getting all spruced up for its 100th birthday. The celebration is planned for Memorial Day and will get under way following the annual services and parade. In most years, the parade begins in downtown Kenton and proceeds to Grove Cemetery where dedication services take place for area veterans.

DOLA — Hardin Northern High School will hold its 2015 commencement on Sunday, May 24 at 2 p.m. in the auditorium. Four of the 29 graduating seniors have been selected as Honor Court graduates. Each of these students has maintained a grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0 on a 4.0 scale and will receive an Honor Court medallion at the commencement.

Grants totaling $191,000 were presented to 155 organizations by the Hardin County Community Foundation during a program Thursday at the Armory in Kenton. Charles Van Dyne, chairman of the grants committee, and Gina Messner, foundation secretary, announced the names of the recipients at the annual event.

BELLEFONTAINE — One hundred thirty-one Benjamin Logan seniors will receive their diplomas at the 45th annual graduation ceremony on Friday, May 22 at 7 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Addressing this year's class will be co-valedictorians Caitlyn Baird, Jenna Hardin, Carrie Leese and Logan McPherson.

FOREST — For more than a year, village officials in Forest have known they needed to make a decision on their community pool. The pump house and pool itself are in need of repair to the point that the Kenton-Hardin Health Department revoked the pool’s operating license until a study could be completed to determine if the concrete pool was safe.

There will be no live horses housed in the barn at the Hardin County Farm Museum during the county fair. During a recent commissioners meeting, the suggestion was made the draft horses could use the barn during the fair.
