Knitters share county fair projects

Fair projects

Knitters shared their Hardin County Fair projects and ribbons each won at the Sept. 10 meeting of the Ohio Knit Wits. Entries from Missie Austin, Lewana Butcher, Eileen Chamberlain, Cheryl Cosart, Cathy Guinn, Rhonda Thompson and Rebecca Wells were on display at the meeting. Absent was Deb Sterrett who also had several entries.

Fire destroys vacant house

Extinguishing the blaze

A Sunday night fire that resulted in the total loss of a vacant structure at 216 W. Walnut St. in Kenton remains under investigation. Kenton Fire Department firefighters were dispatched to the structure, owned by Brian Berry, at 8:57 p.m. According to the report from the KFD, upon arrival, heavy fire and smoke were observed coming from the first and second story of the structure.

Ada principal says teachers, coaches prepared him for career in education

ADA — Prior to his move to the Ada School District, Middle School and High School Principal Dan Lee had never been a part of a K-12 system all under one roof. After spending time as an educator and administrator in South Carolina, Dan and his wife Brittany, also an educator originally from Columbus Grove, made the move back to Ohio to be closer to family. Dan is now in his seventh year as an Ada Bulldog.

Miller nets 3 in Lady Falcons victory

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Lexi Miller had three goals to lead Riverdale to a 4-1 girls soccer victory over Mansfield Christian on Saturday. After Haley Frey opened the scoring seven minutes into the game off an assist from Makena Barnes, Miller scored three minutes later off an assist from Frey to make it 2-0.

ADA — For more than a century, Cole Motor Sales has been a staple of the Ada business community. It survived two world wars, the Great Depression and saw business after business come and go in the community. But the changes in the automotive world proved to be more than the local dealership could survive.
