Ridgemont Cub Scout Pack 131 held its pinewood derby car races in the Ridgeway gym. Scouts raced on a 17-year-old homemade wood track that Lonnie Arnold graciously allowed the scouts to use. Along with the track, Arnold displayed derby cars ranging in ages from the first derby races in the 1950s to early 2000s.

As the mother of a special needs child, Beth Bell recognized a need for that portion of the population to have options in their daily care. After her son graduated from high school, she resolved to offer him and others with special needs new opportunities, but she wanted her new business to be unique.

The Kenton boys track team topped Bellefonaine 79-59 in a dual meet on Thursday afternoon. First place finishers for the Wildcats were Malik Jett in the 110 hurdles (18.4 seconds), Landon Bartlett in the 400 dash (56.2 seconds), Jacob Jolliff in the 200 run (24.8 seconds), Reed Cook in the high jump (5-10) and Jayden Cornell in the long jump (19-4 1/4).

Alisha Lorraine Buxton and Austin James Frey of Forest are announcing their engagement and upcoming marriage. Alisha is the daughter of Doug and Via Buxton of Forest and Jerry and Karen Graham of Rawson.

Hardin Northern FFA members wrapped up their winter contest season this past weekend after competing at the state contest in Columbus. The chapter ran two teams this winter, wildlife and general livestock.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk jumped on top of Ridgemont early in cruising to a 17-6 softball win over the Gophers on Wednesday afternoon. The host Warriors tallied 7 runs in the first inning and added six more in the second frame on the way to the win.
