An Amish man gets a jump on the weather by doing some spring plowing in Dudley Township on Monday afternoon. It will finally start to feel like spring beginning Wednesday when temperatures will climb into the mid 50s.

ADA — Ada took control with seven runs in the fourth inning on the way to a 10-6 win over Hardin Northern in a season-opening softball game on Monday afternoon. The Polar Bears opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the first inning. Ada came back with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth.

ADA — Ada broke open a close game with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on the way to a 9-3 victory over Hardin Northern in a non-league baseball game on Monday afternoon. Trailing 2-0 after the top of the first inning, the Bulldogs scored three runs in the bottom of the frame before putting some space between themselves and the Polar Bears with four runs in the fourth.

UPPER SANDUSKY — Upper Sandusky scored three or more runs in three of the four innings it batted on the way to 12-1 softball win over Kenton in season-opening action on Monday afternoon. After Kenton scored its only run in the top of the first inning, the host Rams answered with four runs in the bottom half of the frame.

CAREY — Host Carey plated four runs over the final three innings to pull away for a 6-2 victory over Riverdale in a non-league softball contest on Monday afternoon. Trailing 2-0 after one inning, Riverdale tied the game with a pair of runs in the top of the third.

Upper Sandusky defeated Kenton 4-1 in season-opening high school boys tennis action on Monday afternoon. Hayden Robinson was the lone victor for the Wildcats, topping the Rams’ Justin Blackburn 7-5. 7-5 in the No. 3 singles match.

For her work in detecting fraud through Hardin County Job and Family Services, Jessica Osborn was recognized as Rookie of the Year by the Ohio Council on Welfare Fraud (OCOWF). Jessica has been the fraud investigator with Job and Family Services for two years, investigating cases on those who receive benefits through the agency for offenses such as fraudulent pay stubs or failing to report income.
