DOLA — Leading Hardin Northern 40-39 with one quarter to go, the Ada Bulldogs outscored the Polar Bears 20-9 in the fourth to earn a 60-48 non-conference boys basketball victory on Thursday. With one game to go at home against Bluffton tonight, the Bulldogs sit at 5-16 overall. The Polar Bears finish their season at 7-15.

CANTON — Entering her first race, the 50 freestyle, as the No. 4 seed, there was a strong possibility that Ada’s Klava Katayama was going to advance to the finals of the 2019 OHSAA Swimming and Diving Championships at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

CANTON — Every year since her sophomore year, Benjamin Logan High School senior Macy Arn has qualified for the finals round of the OHSAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Thursday was no different.

Few people have a longer relationship with 4-H than Amanda Raines. "Almost from the womb," she joked. Raines will be directing much of the 4-H program in Hardin County now as an educator with the Hardin County OSU Extension Office.

HARROD — Arlington jumped on top of Hardin Northern early and was able to coast through the second half for a 61-25 girls basketball victory in a Division IV sectional semifinal game at Allen East High School on Wednesday night. The Red Devils, who were led by Lindsay Dodds’ 18-point effort, jumped ahead 22-6 after eight minutes and 44-11 at halftime. A three-pointer by Sarah Solt on the Red Devils first possession of the third quarter pushed their lead over 35 points and forced a running clock for the remainder of the game.

Seven members of the Riverdale High School FFA were among 51 FFA members from Wyandot County who received the Chapter FFA Degree during an event on Feb. 4 hosted by the Upper Sandusky FFA. The Riverdale recipients were Jenna Bowman, Juleigha Collier, Nolan Courtney, Kacey Kramer, Danielle Little, Alyssa McCloud and Cayden Waller.

Benjamin Logan FFA members Bradey Ackley and Matt Black competed at the Tractor Troubleshooting Career Development Event placing 5th overall. The event took place at the John Deere Training Facility in Dublin.

Emma Elizabeth Jameson is a senior at Ada High School. Her parents are Jeff and Deanna Jameson of Ada. She plans to attend the Ohio State University and major in early childhood education. Emma has worked at Wendy's Restaurant in Bluffton and was a cashier at the Ada Swimming Pool over the summer.

A quick three inches of snow Wednesday morning made it difficult for some motorists to climb the hill on South Detroit Street in Kenton near the Hardin County Courthouse. The driver of the red car gave up, asked her passenger to have the cars behind her to back up as she backed onto Ohio Street, where she got stuck again and was pushed out by a passer-by.

LIMA — Riverdale had the momentum going into halftime of its girls sectional basketball contest against Cory-Rawson on Tuesday night, The Hornets wasted little time in stealing back the momentum in the second half as they pulled away for a 52-40 victory over the Falcons at Bath High School.
