A trash-hauling truck from SV&E Refuse was eastbound on County Road 110 Wednesday afternoon when it struck the main support girders for the overhead trestle, just north of Kenton, according to the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.

LIMA — Carrie Woodruff, SNS, Food Service Director of Lima City Schools, is the 2019 recipient of the Foodservice Achievement Management Excellence (FAME) Silver Special Achievement Award. Woodruff, of Ada, will receive her award at the FAME award ceremony on Jan. 13 at the JW Marriott in Austin, Texas during the School Nutrition Association’s 2019 School Nutrition Industry Conference.

A Diabetes Support Group meeting will be at 5 p.m. today in the McCullough Conference Room at Hardin Memorial Hospital. “Post Holiday Pick Me Ups: Getting Back on Track” is the title of this month’s meeting and DeAnna Carey, dietitian and diabetes educator of Hardin Memorial Hospital will be the presenter.

As Ohioans renew their drivers licenses this year, they may want to consider their travel options for the near future in deciding the type of license to obtain. According to Lindsey Bohrer, spokesperson for the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Columbus, a new license will be required for people planning to travel by plane even if those flights are within the U.S. beginning in 2020.

The Kenton boys and the Ben Logan girls swept a swimming quad meet that also included Botkins and Indian Lake at the Hardin County YMCA on Tuesday night.

The Kenton/Hardin County Soroptimist Club met Thursday, Jan. 3 at the Hardin County Sheriff’s Community Room in Kenton. President Laura Ferguson called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. with a welcome of 22 members in attendance including one new member, Deb Oestreich.

In just her third month overseeing membership at the Hardin County Family YMCA, Jennifer Moore has enjoyed her role in helping to increase numbers. Jennifer has been with the YMCA for just over a year, originally starting at the front desk in November of 2017 before taking over membership responsibilities one year later.
