ADA — Each year, the staff, students and guests at Ohio Northern University gather at the statue of its founder, Henry Solomon Lehr, to commemorate Veterans Day. This years service had an historic significance since it is the 100th anniversary of the armistice which ended WWI.

Area firefighters remain hard at work after extinguishing a blaze at a rental property at 830 King St., Kenton. According to a report from the Kenton Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 10:17 a.m., Monday, arriving to heavy smoke showing from all sides of the structure and fire originating from the kitchen area.

A small army of volunteers descended on the square around the courthouse in Kenton on Monday to decorate for the holiday season in preparation for the Nov. 20 Kenton Lions Club Christmas Parade and the annual Window Wonderland.

DOLA — Hardin Northern held its fall sports banquet last Thursday, awarding special awards to its football, volleyball, cross country and cheerleading athletes. Football players receiving special awards were Daylin Pees, most valuable offensive back receiver; Lance Good, most valuable defensive lineman and offensive lineman; Zac Warmbrod, most valuable defensive back; Cody Wilmoth, Polar Bear award and Owen Wetherill, MVP.
