Bonnie McBride was legendary when it came to making butterscotch pies. But even she would have been floored when a pie baked and dedicated in her memory brought $1,200 in a pie auction this morning for the United Way of Hardin County.

After a rough beginning to the season in which the Kenton volleyball team dropped a road tri-match, the Lady Wildcats were looking for something positive to happen Tuesday night when they took the court against Waynesfield-Goshen.

Riverdale boys soccer coach Dylan Beck did not see his players for a couple months during the offseason, and when he finally did, he found they had grown — and not just figuratively. The Falcons used their height to convert on three headers for goals and used their speed to create opportunities while overwhelming Upper Sandusky, 10-1, in a boys soccer match Tuesday night.

The Kenton girls tennis team swept all four matches that were played in a 5-0 win over Lima Senior on Tuesday afternoon. In the No. 1 singles match, Kelsey Flowers topped Hailey Bartels 6-1, 6-2; and in the No. 2 match, Abigail Hartshorn of Kenton bested Tatianna Goston 6-0,6-0.

Ridgemont defeated Elgin 232-244 in a Northwest Central Conference golf match on Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Park Golf Course. Carson James shot a 53 to lead the Gophers and earn medalist honors. He finished with two pars.

The 71st class reunion of 1947 of Kenton High School met at Henry’s Restaurant on Aug. 18 at noon for dinner. Seven members and guests were present. After the greeting, members had pictures taken and dinner was enjoyed.

For 125 years, the Kenton Marble and Granite has stood as a foundation to the area's business community. It is easily the longest continuous business in Hardin County, but its roots spread back much farther than its name.

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan got off to a slow start during its volleyball match against visiting Ada on Monday night. But once they got going the Raiders dominated long enough to take control of the match on the way to a four-set 25-22, 25-4, 13-25, 25-16 victory over the Bulldogs.

WOODVILLE — Hannah Breindenbach and Lexi Miller scored goals for Riverdale as the Falcons tied Woodmore 2-2 in a non-league girls soccer match on Monday afternoon.

Roberta Flinn, longtime member of the Kenton Garden Club, assisted other club members in preparing the Memorial Garden at the Hardin County Fairgrounds on Friday, Aug. 24.
