ALGER — The USV Alger EMS held its annual EMS Christmas and Awards Banquet at Henry's Restaurant in Kenton on Saturday. Many members were in attendance along with their families.

BELLEFONTAINE — The defensive pressure by the Kenton girls overwhelmed Bellefontaine Monday night, forcing turnover after turnover in the non-conference basketball contest. The Lady Wildcats converted the fast break points, as well as knocking home eight three-pointers, to get the 71-31 victory.

Santa Claus visited the third annual Charlie Brown Christmas Festival in Forest on Sunday afternoon as part of the golf cart parade.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — For the past month, Riverdale engineering and physics students have been working on a Christmas light and music display for downtown Forest. The public will get to see the fruits of the students’ labors when the display is unveiled Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in the lot at the intersection of Lima and Gormley streets as part of the village’s Charlie Brown Christmas, which will run from 3 to 6 p.m.

Students at Kenton Elementary are learning to become leaders this year and the leaders of those leaders were rewarded Friday. The school has established The Leader In Me program for students in preschool through sixth grade.

Starting two freshmen, two sophomores and a junior and having only three players on his roster with any significant varsity experience, Kenton boys basketball coach Matt McCullough was uncertain about what to expect from his young team heading into Friday’s season-opener against Indian Lake.

ADA — With Ridgemont on their tails for the first three quarters, the Ada Bulldogs were looking to distance themselves from the Gophers in the final quarter of Friday night’s boys basketball season opener. The Bulldogs did just that, outscoring the Gophers 17-5 in the quarter to take the 53-35 win over their inter-county opponent.
