Kethy Helton serves a meal to the guests at the Hardin County Council on Aging during its annual veterans dinner on Thursday evening. More than 100 veterans and guests took part in the program and sang hymns prior to being served the meal.

Hardin Northern sixth graders learned about Mesopotamia by creating their own city-states as part of a recent unit. Students worked in groups to prove their civilization had evidence of a government, religion, art, written language, technology, social classes, and a stable food supply.

ADA — The Ada High School softball team has never won the Northwest Conference championship. Now that two of his top seniors have signed to play softball collegiately, third-year coach Troy Erickson is hoping they will be ready to help guide the Bulldogs to that elusive first-ever league crown next spring.

On October 25-27 the Hardin Northern FFA attended the 90th National Convention held in Indianapolis, Indiana.

ADA — Ada volleyball standout Melina Woods made the decision last June that after graduating she will attend Canisius College to continue her athletic career and education. On Wednesday, the Ada senior made her decision official when she signed her National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Griffins next fall.

ADA – A holiday tradition continues with upcoming performances of Ohio Northern University’s 23rd annual ONU Holiday Spectacular musical extravaganza. The show will be presented in ONU’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 16, Nov. 17 and Nov.18, with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Nov. 18.

Ada Schools tops list of successful local tax issues   Most issues presented to Hardin County voters in Tuesday’s election were renewals or replacements and voters showed their support for them in great numbers at the polls. This October students and staff at Kenton High School got into the holiday spirit a little early. The Kenton-OHP FFA Chapter hosted a successful ‘Socktober’ drive.

ADA — The Village of Ada honored a woman who has dedicated countless hours to benefit her community and the university that calls Ada its home. Connie Fleming was named the Ada Distinguished Citizen of the Year at the 52nd Town and Gown Banquet at the McIntosh Center of Ohio Northern University on Monday night.
